Apple just ended its decade-long monopoly on mobile payments. From October 2025, every licensed FinTech, bank, and wallet provider can process payments directly on iPhones without Apple’s approval.
This sudden change forces every financial institution to rethink its setup, technology, and risk strategy as competition floods the market overnight.
For eCommerce businesses, this change defines how fast they grow and how well they protect revenue. Banks may still hold deposits, but fintechs hold attention, and in today’s world, attention defines value.
Criminals evolve daily, so payment systems and banking regulations also must evolve faster. This puts an enormous pressure on businesses because the ones who manage payment and banking tasks are not adequately trained to do so.
Only those companies that maintain a structured, continuously updated payment and banking strategy can react faster, reduce risks, and keep their business model aligned with technological progress. This knowledge is no longer good to have but I must to have.
