How Banks Really Think - Podcast with Viktoria Soltesz at The Manesh Palli Show

Viktoria Soltesz was invited to The Manesh Palli Show to speak about banks, payments, and how businesses can move funds internationally.

The Issue

Most founders focus on the product, launch, and affiliates, but when they finally start doing business and look for a payment provider, they’re met with rejection—not because the product doesn’t work, but because the setup is impossible to support.

Banks are responsible to keep the financial system alive globally, which is a tremendous amount of work. one mistake and they can lose their license or pay very hefty penalties .

This creates a paradox situation: just because something is legal does not automatically mean that it will be supported by banks too. In high-risk industries like iGaming, even a legal business can be rejected because banks don't want the reputational exposure.

The tables have turned, and it seems like businesses are not in a position to pick their banks; it’s about whether the bank wants them as a client at all.

Introducers

The episode highlighted one of the biggest dangers in the industry, which is still unfortunately the reliance on introducers. Payment brokers, experts, and “strategists,” and even gateways and ISOs, usually work on commission by reselling different solutions, steering clients toward the highest commission rather than finding the best option, which is a conflict of interest.

Crypto

Viktoria touched on the Crypto subject, too. Digital assets can seem like a shortcut when payments are blocked, but they come with risks banks will not tolerate. We need to plan and strategize for every single payment, because if a payment method such as Crypto is not legal or subject to blurry regulations in a certain country and you use it for business, you may lose your best, cheapest, and safest banking partners altogether.

Education

The episode highlighted the importance of training.

The ones who manage payment and banking tasks are not adequately trained to do so. Key areas such as how payments and banking affect technology, UX, compliance, and other essential aspects in a business are absent from accounting, economics courses, and MBAs.

Even CFOs and heads of payments often miss the basics.

The Soltesz Institute

That’s why Viktoria built The Soltesz Institute: to help businesses understand how money actually moves and how to make decisions based on facts, not guesswork, to payment some banking. The Institute is setting the industry standard and currently offer the only, globally recognized Payment and Banking Certification and issue EU-accredited certificates and CPD points upon completion of the courses.
