The Shift That Changed Hungarian Money Forever

In the mid-1980s, I was born.


During this time, my birthplace, Hungary, also saw some changes in its financial system: the country began moving away from the socialist model and introduced personal income tax for the first time!


People were expected to understand taxation, calculate and pay their own share, but without having the tools, the knowledge, or even the habit of tracking income.


Due to the lack of information,, the tax office taxed them based on assumptions. Even honest people got caught in penalties simply because they could not prove what actually happened.


When digitalisation moves faster than education, it still puts businesses at risk today.
