The Trust-Opacity Paradox in Payments and Banking

ree

The recent research show that AI disclosure actually erodes trust - people trust you less when you disclose AI use, not more.

The Trust-Opacity Paradox is a pattern where rising trust in payment and banking systems goes hand in hand with a shrinking understanding of how those systems actually work. As UX become more seamless, users pay less and less attention to terms, licences and counterparties, because outcomes feel predictable and controlled.

Trust increases - because effort and visibility decrease.

But this is a very dangerous game. And the ones who manage payment and banking tasks are not adequately trained to do so. Key areas, such as how payments and banking affect technology, UX, compliance, and other essential aspects in a business, are absent from accounting, economics courses, and MBAs.
